Druids of old, though literate, did not write down sacred tales, rituals, or secret knowledge.  We still do not.  Many of our rituals are open to watch, experience, and practice to those committed to continued secrecy.

The ritual of the oak and mistletoe was recorded by Piney the Elder in the 1st Century AD.  This occurred, he said, on the evening of the Moon's last quarter, when the dark half of the month begins.  Druids would cut mistletoe from sacred oaks with a golden scythe for use in healing, charms and such.  Piney says that two white bulls were sacrificed.  Sacrificing bulls is a common aspect of the oldest Indo-European religious practices, found all the way back to the Minoans and beyond.  It certainly links the Celts of Ireland to their putative origins on the Iberian peninsula.  The sacrifice of two bulls is reminiscent of the two bulls in the tale of the Cattle Raid of Cooley.  For more on this ritual see Wikipedia

Instead of practicing made-up, make-believe, or facsimile rituals the AR*ID sect simply acknowledges the purpose of the ritual, and moves on to the social aspect.  In other words, our public rites are mostly great big parties.  They are open to members, their guests, and other interested folks.
